Costcutter is a supporter of the government’s Change4Life campaign, aimed at improving young peoples’ lifestyles and health choices. A growing number of our stores are taking part in the programme, introducing in-store changes to encourage greater uptake of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Stores participating in the campaign have made changes to store layouts, including moving fresh and chilled produce to the front of store and investing in new and increased chiller capacity, publicising their involvement via leaflet campaigns, in-store promotion and school involvement.

Promoting the ‘5 a day’ message, some stores taking part have seen fresh produce sales increase by as much as 38% since the launch of the Change4life campaign.

The initiative encourages stores to get involved with schools in their local area to ensure that key healthy eating messages are communicated to the local community and particularly to school children under 12.
